What’s up duck?

Apart from the more typical removal jobs, we often get to transport some more unusual items, and this 6ft tall duck called Puck certainly falls into that category. He needed carrying safely to a shopping centre for the weekend, and as with everything we move, our job was to make sure he arrived safely and in one piece.

As you can see here, Joe Ballard and the duck quickly formed a close bond, with Joe feeding him some quackers before racing up the motorway to get there before the quack of dawn. We couldn’t resist a few duck-themed jokes along the way – it would have been rude not to.

Safely secured in the back of the truck and wrapped up in several blankets (the duck, not Joe), we’re delighted to say he arrived without a scratch, or even a tiny quack, just as we knew he would. It may not have been one of our usual house moves, but Puck was treated with exactly the same care and attention as every item we transport.

It’s not every day you get to move a giant duck, but it’s certainly one of those jobs that sticks in the memory. One thing’s for sure – no two days are ever quite the same at Ballards.
