We’re proud to announce that we now have even more self-storage containers at our Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire sites, giving people in both counties more freedom to securely and cost effectively store their belongings.
Better still, the containers are recycled and will go on to find another use in future, once we’re done with them, so they’re also sustainable!
For our sustainable storage containers, 4,834 miles is just the start of their journey
Before coming to us, the containers were used to ship goods 4,834 miles once from China to the UK, before arriving at our sites in Lincoln and Retford.
Here, they’ll serve our customers on a short or long term rental for several years before being repurposed again when they’re no longer suitable.
Even though they’re well travelled already, the containers look good as new and they’re fully watertight and well-ventilated to prevent mould and condensation.
Matt Ballard, Our Group Managing Director, said:
“We’re thrilled to have expanded the self storage side of our family business with a 15% increase in the number of units available across both of our sites.
“Due to the pandemic, there are many excess containers currently not being used as a result of reduced shipping. We have invested in these ‘one trip’ containers, which were transported with shipped goods inside to prevent any wasted journeys with empty containers.
“Self storage in itself is also very green because it encourages people to look after their belongings and reduce the amount of items that they’re throwing away to landfill. We’re offering an economical, safe and secure alternative so that they can re-use or pass those items onto younger generations when they’re ready.
“The containers will last for many years but any old containers that are no longer suitable for our storage yard aren’t just thrown away; they are reused for many other purposes. For example, some go on to be used as garden sheds and gyms in back gardens, or storing excess stock for businesses. Some of our containers have even gone on to become even surf shacks by the beach!. They’re fully sustainable and reusable for many years to come once they’ve left us.”
Secure, safe and sustainable storage solutions
As well as being water-tight and ventilated to prevent condensation forming, the containers are securely locked and protected by are available for customers to rent on a short or long term basis, with both sites benefitting from 24-hour security, including CCTV and alarm systems linked directly to the police.
The 20ft long containers – approximately the size of a single garage – can be used for both household and commercial storage, and can even fit cars and motorcycles inside.
In response to the recent flooding that’s affected our home county of Nottinghamshire in particular, we’ve once again decided to offer two weeks’ free self storage to any individuals within our local community that have been affected by the weather conditions.
Richard Ballard, Our Company Founder, said:
“As a family business, we always want to help our local community in any way we can. By investing more in our sustainable self-storage, we are able to offer support to even more individuals who are in need following the recent flooding.
“If you’re in our local area and have been affected, please do get in touch – we’re more than happy to help in any way that we can.”
