At Ballards, we are passionate about training and developing our staff to work safely and efficiently and, above all, to provide great customer service.
This month, we’re delighted to announce the launch of our new trainee programme, where 6 new recruits have joined us to start their new careers in the removals industry.
We’re offering a clear route of progression for our new team members. During the course of the 3 year programme, trainees will learn everything we can teach them, from packing, loading and unloading, warehouse skills and portering, with an expectation that they will be fully qualified Removals Porters, with export wrapping skills, by the end of year 2. Year 3 will provide the opportunity to qualify as removals LGV drivers, with opportunities to drive across the UK and Europe.
Previous removals training successes
All of our current team have been through training with Ballards, so we know it works, take Clint for example. Clint started working on a casual part time basis. He then progressed to a full time porter role, and after formal and on-the-job training, became a valuable 2nd man. He then moved on to do his lorry driver training, getting his class 2, which enabled him to work on European moves. Clint is now a class 1 senior driver a top operational role with Ballards Removals.
Our trainees can be confident that the training we provide will be at the highest standard. We are a BAR Approved training centre and other removal companies look to us to train their staff, so our trainees will get the benefit of our vast training experience. We run a range of removals training courses, from basic skills through to the handling of oversized and delicate items and our dedicated training rooms are equipped with different types of furniture and items which students can use to practice their manual handling skills in a safe environment.
In addition to learning removals skills, our trainees will of course be taught the “Ballards” way, with a professional, methodical and caring approach to all aspects of their work being critical. Alongside this, trainees will learn the importance of good communication skills and demonstrating a willingness to “go the extra mile” for all of our customers. Trainees will be regularly assessed as they progress and will only be approved to work with customers once they’ve achieved a defined standard of knowledge and skill.
Here you can see our “class of 2017” in the training room, having completed their company induction and just about to start their 5 day “Complete Mover” course.
We’re very excited at the prospect of bringing 6 trainees in to the business at the same time and look forward to seeing how their careers develop over the next 3 years and beyond.
